The Post Office advises businesses of the importance of van insurance

London, UK (PRWeb UK) February 27, 2010

Government research has revealed that vans represent nearly 10 per cent of all licensed vehicles and account for more than 13 per cent of all road traffic. With 61 per cent of vans on UK roads owned by businesses , Post Office Van Insurance is reminding businesses of the importance of selecting the right van insurance to cover their needs.

According to the research, the number of licensed vans requiring van insurance grew by 40 per cent to nearly 3.2 million vehicles over the past decade . The figures showed that 53 per cent of the distance travelled by vans is primarily for business purposes such as the ‘carriage of equipment’, while 26 per cent is for the ‘delivery and/or collection of goods’.

With so many vans on UK roads, Post Office Van Insurance is highlighting the importance of having adequate van insurance cover.

Post Office Van Insurance is designed to meet the needs of small businesses across the UK – though van insurance cover is provided for both business and private use. Post Office van insurance cover includes damage to a third party when towing (including trailers and caravans) and cover for the ‘Carriage of Own Goods’. Post Office Van Insurance covers goods vehicles up to the gross weight of 3.5 tonnes, and vehicles designed to carry goods, tools and supplies.
