Material ConneXion Opens in Bangkok Thailand

On November 14th 2005 Material ConneXion will officially open its fourth international licensee and its first Asian office, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The office, materials resource library and exhibition space was made possible by The Royal Thai Government, the office of the Prime Minister of Thailand His Excellency Thaksin Shinawatra Ph.D. and their commitment to design and creative professionals. In addition, Mr. Khun Pansak Vinyaratn, Chairman of the Thailand Creative and Design Center, was instrumental in bringing Material ConneXion to Thailand. In order to welcome Material ConneXion to Thailand His Excellency the Prime Minister and Mr. Khun Pansak Vinyaratn made an official trip to the New York headquarters on Saturday September 17th.

They were given a tour of the materials resource library and presented with lifetime memberships to Material ConneXion. Of the visit, His Excellency the Prime Minister said, “We are extremely excited and impressed with Material ConneXion and are honored that they have chosen Bangkok as the first office in the Far East. We will make then proud of Material ConneXion Bangkok and I will personally see to its success.”

Sharing the Prime Minister’s excitement, the President of Material ConneXion Bangkok Mr. Chaiyong Ratana-ung-goon remarked, “We are very proud to establish Material ConneXion® Bangkok, an extensive material library in Thailand. Considering the importance of understanding and utilizing the newest and most innovative materials in design, TCDC relies on Material ConneXion to provide Thai people with its materials resource center of international standard. It will enable all interested Thai designers and manufacturers to gain access to the widest and most up-to-date materials and encourage them in developing new ideas and products.”

When it opens, the materials resource library will house 600 of the newest and most innovative materials. Each month, new materials will be added to the library from the selection of materials juried in by the New York office and invited jurors from the design disciplines.

Among the state-of-the-art facilities provided by the Thailand Creative and Design Center is a multi-million dollar collection of books related to all aspects of design; the facility also houses a multimedia resource center, meeting spaces, conferences, workshops, and an extensive exhibition space.

Regarding the new licensee, Material ConneXion President and Founder
